Medicine Personal Statement Example & Tips

(0)
A PDF doc of my exact 2024 personal statement to medical school + personal statement tips and tricks. I received several offers from this short essay, and had one panel interview that was primarily focused on what I had written - safe to say the interviewers were impressed! This is my exact unchanged essay that can be used for inspiration on structure and phrasing. I found it initially very difficult to get started on my personal statement, so I hope this example is helpful for you or other students applying to medicine/ dentistry/ vet med. As I’ve mentioned before, the extent to which the personal statement is used in interviews varies by uni, but I did have one where they literally highlighted and annotated a printed out copy of it, so make sure you learn your statement inside out and that it’s yours!! Try your best to write meaningfully and in a way that’s personal to you, especially given that degrees such as medicine are heavily oversubscribed, so trying to write the “best” or “perfect” statement is unrealistic and will not let you stand out from the crowd! (This also applies with all of the uni application process - don’t compare yourself with others!! Everyone’s on their own journey, do what makes the most sense to you). This personal statement took a LOT of effort to write, many edits over several months, I hope you find it useful! Disclaimer: do not plagiarise or misuse this example as you will be caught, especially given the increasing use and accuracy of AI checkers. I am uploading this essay purely as an example, not as a template or easy guide. It’ll be tough but worth it if you put in the effort!
